Kirkcaldy & Dysart 2 Burgh 1

Kirkcaldy & Dysart 2 Burgh 1

Burgh Web10 Jan - 19:01

Minutes in legs in friendly after recent postponements

With the weather wiping out the majority of matches in the East of Scotland, only two matches survived – both on artificial surfaces – Burgh took up the opportunity to meet First Division Kirkcaldy & Dysart for a friendly.

It was a good opportunity to get some much needed minutes in the legs of the squad and a chance for a few to make their claim for a place in the starting line up.

The first half saw both teams have good spells of pressure but it remained goalless at the break.

The opening goal arrived on 51 minutes when a looping header from a cross on the right beat the despairing lunge of Kyle Tracey to clear off the line.

Burgh were back on level terms within 8 minutes after good work from Ryan Daly and then Ronnie Martin presented a gift for Andrew McCallion to provide the final touch to knock it over the line from close range.

As both sides shuffled their line ups to give minutes, Kirkcaldy netted what turned out to be the winner on 76 minutes when a ball across the six yard box was slammed home.

It was a useful work out against a strong side and an important activity to keep fit and some minutes after recent postponements.

Many thanks to Kirkcaldy for the game and best wishes for the rest of the season.
