Going in the other direction are last seasons Player of the Year, Richard Milne, and Young Player of the Year, Rikki Wells, along with striker, Kevin McCreadie. Barry Ritchie, Barry Smith, Tony Higgins and Dean Cunningham are all that remain from the 2006/07 squad. Players have now come in from a variety of different levels. From the Professional ranks we have added Stuart Gray from Raith Rovers. New Captain Announced for this Season
Colin Potter has been announced as the Newburgh Captain for this season. Colin has been fantastic since he has joined the club and he has been leading by example in every pre-season game that the club has played. Colin joins the club after helping Kirkcaldy YM to a third place finish last season and the season before he enjoyed a very successful run in the Scottish cup. His experience at such a young age will be vital to our young squad this season.

New Head of Newburgh Youth Development

After several months of interviews, Newburgh have finally chosen a figure head for their Youth Development Drive. Stuart Milne, the ex-Glenrothes and Newburgh defender will manage the Youth set-up from Under 10s right through to 21s. Stuart's full-time job is in the coaching sector for Fife Council and he has many SFA coaching qualifications. Stuart has already been onboard working with the new Under 17 side and he is currently in negotiations, along with Club Manager, Kevin Huskie, with a successful Under 21 side.

Ground Development Hits Overdrive

Pre-season saw new turf and soil hitting the Newburgh pitch, new fences and gates around the ground and now the new main stand is nearing completion. Next will see the away end being renovated and following that moves will be made on the dressing rooms. Around £160,000 is set to be spent on giving the club Super League facilities for the coming seasons. The Board are now looking for the side on the pitch to compare with the new facilities.

Management Team Re-structure

Following the departure of Assistant Manager, Kevin Chapman, in May 2007, the Manager put together a strong short-list of possible candidates for his replacement. Paddy Kelly, the club's Head Coach was also working with the Manager in an attempt to get the right man for the job. In the end the decision was unanimous; former Dunfermline Athletic and Newburgh Goalkeeper, Martyn Melia, was appointed into the job. Martyn is well qualified to look after the clubs goalkeepers and his knowledge of the game means that he will be a great asset as the club's new Assistant Manager. Club Manager, Kevin Huskie commented, "Martyn is well liked at the club and his coaching abilities are a tremendous asset to our side. We are sure that he is the final piece in the jigsaw and we now have a very happy Management Team to drive the side forward."
