Newburgh Junior Football Club is one of the oldest clubs in the Fife Junior League. Established in 1909.

Newburgh is a royal burgh of Fife, Scotland.

Pop. (1901) 1904. The population today is only a little greater at 2040 (est 2004). Being a small town, most residents are aware of each other and their occupations and activities. There are still some public houses but their number is dwindling. It is situated on the Firth of Tay, 7 m. N.W. of Ladybank Junction by First ScotRail. Newburgh railway station closed in 1951 (pre-Beeching), and has never reopened, despite frequent local campaigns to re-establish some sort of rail link, as trains run through Newburgh on a regular basis.

Newburgh Juniors have, in the past, had the backing of the town and can attract one of the best crowds in the Junior game. East Shore Park is recognised by all as one of the best grounds in the East Region Junior league and the facilities at Newburgh are second to none. Since conception the club has had a mixture of successes and failures but in the early years of the old Fife Junior League Newburgh enjoyed many league titles. Many great players have come and gone from this great club. Sandy Kilgour and Mick McManus are two of the most succesful and well known of the former East Shore heros.

Honours and achievements

In recent times the club have struggled to finish above the bottom three and the 2006/07 saw a new low as the club only avoided finishing bottom of the league with a few games to go. The 2007/08 pre-season saw a massive clear-out from Newburgh and the new Management team, along with a new Board, began a massive re-building process both on the pitch and off it. Only 3 players were kept from a 20 man squad and a new young squad were created. The fan base is always there at Newburgh and this sleeping giant of Junior football is always just a season away from the success it deserves.
